5 days

Conference:
NHSMUN 2012

Hi delegates,

So, we're 5 days from the first day of NHSMUN 2012! It's amazing, isn't it?
I hope that you all feel like you're on top of these topics, and ready for debate.
If not, you have 5 days to cram your brains with as much information as you possibly can!

To help you keep the information-flow going, here's a video from the World Bank's official youtube-channel. The video is about the safety challenges DFIs face when trying to rebuild Haiti's infrastructure.

Final Thoughts on Organ Trafficking

Conference:
NHSMUN 2012

Hello delegates =)

This will likely be the last blog on the black market in human organs until we meet! Here are some final considerations:

Kosovo --
Perhaps expanding the mandate of our committee, think abou the human rights implications of human organ trafficking
http://www.emg.rs/en/news/serbia/175257.html
Along that line of thought, what is the role of transparency in this situation? How do we ensure it? What are the potential consequences if it is not achieved?

European Union Stalls Debt Talks

Conference:
NHSMUN 2012

Good Evening Delegates!

I know the EcoFin blog has been very Eurocentric, however, I think it is important that we, as a committee, keep up with this debt crisis that is plaguing a large part of the world.

Here's a great link to visit daily to track the debt crisis: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/business/global/european-debt-crisis-...

Greek Debt Update

Conference:
NHSMUN 2012

Greetings Delegates!

Another update on Greece (seems to be what EVERY news station is talking about).

The S&P (Standard and Poor's) considers Greece's debt situation (after it's new bonds were issued) as a selective default. Find out more at the link posted below.

An Update on Farm Subsidies

Conference:
NHSMUN 2012

Hey Guys!

With a little more than a week before conference you should all be getting super excited for NHSMUN 2012. Beyond that, it is important to keep up with the news, especially the developments on agricultural subsidies. External debt management has been at the forefront of the news, but agricultural subsidies, a subtler topic should not be ignored.

Here are some links at what different areas of the world are going to change/do in 2012 in regards to agricultural subsidies:

Rehabilitation & Reintegration

Conference:
NHSMUN 2012

Hi delegates! We're only a few DAYS away from NHSMUN now!

Keep an eye out for a report to be released by UNICEF: http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=41364&Cr=unicef&Cr1

Take a moment and mentally compare and contrast these two programs:

6. Rwanda: An Interview

Conference:
NHSMUN 2012

Hi Justices!!

I can't believe how close to the conference we are! I'm going to shy away from presenting hard law and treaty in this entry, and instead, present you with an interview that was conducted with Romeo Dallaire, the Force Commander for UNAMIR.

Here is the link: http://lib.stanford.edu/node/5634/

It's a short and interesting read. Pay attention to Dallaire's description of the buildup of the genocide and how he views the action/lack of action of major powers to stop the atrocities.

Some things I thought were interesting:
