The Kingdom of Cambodia (pronounced /kæmˈboʊdiə/), also known as Kampuchea, is a constitutional monarchy officially established in 1953. It is located in the Southeast Asian region and neighbors Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Cambodia has an area of 181,035 sq km and borders the Gulf of Thailand in the Indian Ocean. Cambodians are mostly ethnic Khmer, descendants of the Angkor Empire which existed from the 10th to the 13th century.
