Originally a French colony, the Republic of Djibouti acquired its independence in 1977. Located on the eastern coast of Africa, Djibouti is bordered by Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somolia. Djibouti has a republic government with a President that acts as the Chief of State while a Prime Minister acts as the Head of Government for the country. Djibouti has been a member of the United Nations since 1977, mere months after it’s independence.
