The capital of Portugal is Lisbon, which is on the West coast of the country. Portugal is a republic, specifically a parliamentary democracy, although until 1910 it had been a monarchy. Currently, the country is run by President Anibal Cavaco Silva and Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho.
