Fall 2018 Video Contest for NHSMUN 2019
Below is a new scholarship opportunity to participate in NHSMUN 2019! Each school or team is eligible to submit a video in response to one of the two prompts below. Winners will receive a $1000 scholarship, to be used toward NHSMUN 2019 conference fees. Submissions are due by October 1st to info@imuna.org. All schools and teams are eligible to submit a video, even winners of previous contests!
Prompt A:
In August of 2018, the youth representatives of countless NGOs, including IMUNA, adopted the “We the Future” Youth Declaration (available here). This document presents a strong vision for how youth, governments, and NGOs must all work together to achieve the SDGs. For this prompt, we are asking you, the youth, to create a 1-3 minute video that captures the spirit and content of the declaration in a way that can be shown to someone not familiar with it. In short, help us get the word out about the declaration!
Prompt B:
How does your school or community make a difference with one or more of the SDGs? We encourage delegates to think creatively about the many ways in which the SDGs can shape all of our lives. Highlight something that other members of your community might not know! Please submit a video of no more than 5 minutes that addresses this topic.
More information about the SDGs:
In 2015 at a UN Sustainable Development Summit, world leaders adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The UN describes the SDGs as follows: “The SDGs, also known as Global Goals, build on the success of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and aim to go further to end all forms of poverty. The new Goals are unique in that they call for action by all countries, poor, rich and middle-income to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and addresses a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection” (source: United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda).
