“Kyrgyzstan, conventionally known as The Kyrgyz Republic, is a Central Asian country located South of Kazakhstan and West of China with Bishkek as a capital and a population of 5,604,212. It is also bordered by Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and has an area of 199,951 square km, making it the 87th largest nation in the world. Before gaining its independence on August 31th 1990 with the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia had most of Kyrgyzstan annexed to it in 1876. In 1936, it became a Soviet Republic; lasting 54 years until its full independence.
Concerning politics, Kyrgyzstan is a republic: the president serves for a six-year long term, elected by the Kyrgyz people based on a universal suffrage. The prime minister is normally appointed by the Parliament in the measure in which he or she holds more than half of the seats.
