Thailand, officially known as the Kingdom of Thailand, is a Southeast Asian country located at the center of the Indochina peninsula. Stretching over 198,000 square miles, Thailand is the world’s 51st largest and the 20th most populous country in the world. Its capitol, Bangkok, is Thailand’s political, commercial, industrial and cultural hub. A constitutional system was established in 1932, but Thailand’s monarchy and military have continued to intervene periodically in politics and a military junta took power in May 2014. Its large population and growing economy has made Indonesia a middle power in the Southeast Asian region of the world.
