June 20 marks World Refugee Day, and NHSMUN joins with peer organizations around the world to recognize the intrinsic right for all to freely seek out safety, stability, and other basic rights such as employment, healthcare, and education. At the end of 2018, a record high of 70.8 million children, women, and men were forcibly displaced from their homes. UNHCR Commissioner Filippo Grandi states that we must "redouble our solidarity with the many thousands of innocent people who are forced to flee their homes each day.”
The 2019 theme of World Refugee Day is Step With Refugees. For more information about World Refugee Day and how you can get involved, visit here!
