Committee Overview for NHSMUN 2021

As always, NHSMUN 2021 will host a diverse range of engaging committees that will fully immerse students in the world of international relations. In addition to committees that are regular favorites, such as CCPCJ and the Security Council, we are also offering new committees that are sure to engage students whether they are novices or veterans. We are particularly excited to announce that this year, we will be hosting a simulation of the United Nations Committee for Program and Coordination, also known as UNCPC. As topics addressed by the UN become more complex and interconnected each passing year, this committee will ask delegates to confront varied issues and explore the planning and coordination that must happen between individual UN bodies for the larger organization to address important issues quickly and effectively.

We are also introducing a new simulation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). UNCAC’s far-reaching scope, ranging from topics such as private sector corruption to asset recovery, make it an engaging and actionable committee that will give delegates experience in corruption identification, deference, and management. We also have an exciting new committee regarding the ever-growing issue of climate change, the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF). This committee will allow students to look holistically at issues surrounding forests such as indigenous knowledge systems and the impact of mining on forests. Furthermore, we are bringing back our popular simulation of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), through which delegates will engage with ever-present issues of urban development and refugee resettlement. For more information on these and other committees, please see the full listing on our committees page. Additional information about the committees, including Background Guides and Preparation Guides, will become available with country assignments!
