UNHCR MUN Refugee Challenge 2021

NHSMUN is honored to participate in the 2021 MUN Refugee Challenge supporting UNHCR! To promote grassroots awareness and discussion of the challenges refugees face around the world, MUN conferences are invited to join the MUN Refugee Challenge by debating and creating a resolution based on the key topic areas. Resolutions are submitted to a jury of UNHCR members, young refugee leaders, and independent experts who will collectively decide which ones to share with actual, real-life policy makers.

For NHSMUN 2021, we have decided to submit the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)’s Topic A, Protecting the Rights and Welfare of Palestinian Women, to address how gender dimensions play a role in shaping the experiences of migrants and refugees. We are already excited to see the wonderful resolutions that emerge from the committee, and we are grateful to UNHCR for enabling the delegates to use this platform to have their voices heard!

In 2020, NHSMUN won the award of “Best MUN” with the Social, Humanitarian & Cultural (SOCHUM) Committee submitting the winning resolution. The award was given in the category of “Countering Toxic Narratives.” NHSMUN was honored to be recognized as one of the winners in the challenge. We are excited that UNHCR will once again run the challenge in 2021 and are delighted to support the wonderful initiative!
